Christian Mysticism The basic response of the soul to the Light is internal adoration and joy, thanksgiving and worship, self-surrender and listening. The secret places of the heart cease to be our noisy workshop. They become a holy sanctuary of adoration and of self-oblation, where we are kept in perfect peace, if our minds be stayed on Him who has found us in the inward springs of our life. Source:Thomas R. Kelly (1893-1941)
Sikhism From the True Lord came the air, and from the air came water. From water, He created the three worlds; in each and every heart He has infused His Light. The body of the five elements is dyed in the Fear of the True One; the mind is filled with the True Light. Source: Shabad/Paurhi/Salok Guru Granth Sahib Page 19
Christian “And this is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men loved the darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For every one who does evil hates the light, and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does what is true comes to the light, that it may be clearly seen that his deeds have been wrought in God.” Source: Luke 3:19-21 RSV
Christian “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God; all things were made through him, and without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life, and the life was the light of men. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.” Source: John 1:1-5 RSV
Judaism “And God said, ‘Let there be light’; and there was light. And God saw that the llght was good; and God separated the light from the darkness.” Source: Genesis 1:3-4 RSV
